i really treasure my voice memos, so i thought i'd try "producing" a voice memo just a bit - using phone and laptop mics, no click, and plenty of room noise.

i was thinking about a lot of things while i made it - movies, the spiders i always seem to find scuttling around my bathroom, characters that flare up in my subconscious and then disappear.

the characters matter because they're mine. like the "loops" i've played with for years now, stories repeat. in a way, they feel like a longer-form version of any random sound: a lamp switch turning, a door opening, a clunking guitar.

we don't think much of them, but they repeat. everything loops. the time between them might feel immeasurable, but if it WAS measured, we could throw a click track behind it. we could count the beats, same as anything. from the first sound, every additional sound would be in relation to - even if it took years, even if it took decades.
